Luleå University of Technology (LTU)

LTU is the northernmost university of technology in Scandinavia and boasts top-class research and education. LTU conducts research in the branch of engineering and the branch of humanities and social sciences. Research at the University has an annual turnover of approx. 500 MSEK and comprises 68 research topics in 13 departments. The research is on the whole applied research and is characterised by multidisciplinary cooperation between the University’s research departments and close interaction with trade and industry and society.

Skellefteå Kraft

Skellefteå Kraft is a municipally-owned energy utility with a long history. The operation is organized in five business areas: Electric power production and sales, Electric distribution network, Heating, Communi¬cation and Real estates.

Skellefteå Kraft is developing a modern infrastructure and services for telephony and computer communications. The network infrastructure, called Skekraft.net, is based on powerful fibre optics and radio-based connections including 802.11 and 802.16 solutions.

Centre for distance-spanning technology (CDT)

CDT offers an integrated environment of people, infrastructure, tools, processes and services for research, development and test (RDT) of new and emerging distance-spanning technologies and its applications. CDT's organizational fundament is a contractual partnership between Luleå University of Technology and commercial IT companies. The University is host and legal body for the operations, a board of directors with industrial majority sets CDT's strategic directions and a core management team is responsible for tactical planning and daily operations.
